We had the opportunity to participate in the Maritime Manpower Forum during Singapore Maritime Week and listen from the industry stakeholders on;
- The need for new skill sets like critical thinking, digital literacy, communication skills, curiosity, self learning, lifelong learning, prompt engineering
- Transition of work and the workplace, skills for green tech,
- The need for attracting and retaining crew
- Enabling crew to pass to the alternative shore positions by providing proper training
- The need for mentoring/peer support and on hands training
- The benefits of cloud simulation and blended approach on training
- The need for work/life balance, gender balance, social responsibility, building trust, engagement, recognition and awarding
- The need for programs on Continuous Professional development both onshore and onboard
