In order to navigate safely in ice regions, seafarers shall be aware of the possible hazards.This module will give a basic understanding and awareness of navigation in ice areas and emphasizes the precautions for the hazards.

Course Duration
Depending on the participants’ background and knowledge of the subject. Average time is 2 hours for CBT module and practical exercise.

The course is based on the guidelines given in IMO Resolution A1024(26), Guidelines for ships operating in Polar waters, IMO MSC Circular 1185a Guide for Cold Water Survival and Guidelines for Offshore Marine Operations (GOMO) Appendix 7a
