Navigating the Future: Insights from Aarohan 2.0 International Maritime Conference 2026

Mar 24 / Maritime Trainer

As Maritime Trainer, we recently had the privilege of attending the International Maritime Conference, Award & Felicitation 2026 (Aarohan 2.0). It was held on the 20th and 21st of March at the serene Lekhak Gaon in Dehradun. It was a powerful convergence of the global maritime community set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas.

The Theme: Dynamic, Diversified, Inclusive

The core theme of the conference, "Shaping the Future of Shipping" resonated deeply with our mission as Maritime Trainer. The discussions centered around three pillars:

  • Dynamic Adaptation: How the industry responds to rapid global changes.

  • Diversification: Exploring new markets, fuels, and logistics strategies.

  • Inclusivity: Ensuring a balanced and supportive environment for seafarers and professionals worldwide.

Bridging Leadership and Digital Transformation

Aarohan 2.0 served as a bridge between traditional industry leadership and the cutting-edge digital transformation. As trainers, we focused on how AI, automation, and green energy are redefining the skills required for the next generation of seafarers. Meeting with shipowners, tech innovators, and policymakers provided us with firsthand insights into the upcoming regulatory and technological shifts.

The Agenda of Aarohan 2.0

In the maritime sector, our focus was naturally drawn to how leadership meets digital transformation. The agenda of Aarohan 2.0 perfectly mirrored the challenges and opportunities we face in modern maritime training.

Human Capital & Seafarer Wellbeing

One of the most impactful sessions focused on Maritime Careers: Seafarer Wellbeing & Ship-to-Shore Transition. The discussions highlighted a significant industry shift toward prioritizing mental health and providing holistic support for the crew. This reinforces the urgent need to integrate "soft skills" and psychological resilience into our core maritime curriculum to ensure our seafarers are prepared for both sea and shore roles.

The Tech Frontier: AI, Data, and Blockchain

AI & Data Analytics: Sessions explored how high-level data is optimizing vessel operations, safety protocols, and fuel efficiency.

Maritime Fintech & Digital Assets: Panels on digital investments and modern ownership models opened new perspectives on how decentralized finance is changing the maritime landscape. Understanding these shifts is vital for preparing the next generation of maritime officers for an increasingly tech-driven industry.

Driving Innovation & Industry Startups

A dedicated segment on maritime innovation highlighted the vibrant startup ecosystem within our industry. Witnessing new solutions for green energy and smart logistics was incredibly inspiring. It served as a reminder that maritime education must now go beyond the classroom, fostering an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset among seafarers and students alike.

Networking and Global Collaboration

The Maritime Exchange Hub facilitated high-level networking with over 250 delegates, including shipowners, brokers, and port authorities. Engaging in "Lightning Talks" and attending the ICS (Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers) Workshop on commercial shipping provided us with fresh case studies to share with our trainees. These interactions are the bedrock of a smarter, more sustainable maritime future.

We are truly grateful for the networking opportunities and the chance to contribute to the movement transforming our industry. This event has not only strengthened India’s role in the global maritime economy but has also provided us with the tools to refine the way we train the seafarers of tomorrow.

Aarohan 2.0 was more than a conference; it was a roadmap for the future. We return to our training facilities with a renewed commitment to excellence, ready to implement the "Dynamic, Diversified, and Inclusive" vision shared in Dehradun.
