Supporting Seafarers Beyond Training: Maritime Trainer Joins ISWAN as Official Member

At Maritime Trainer, our mission has always gone beyond providing quality training — we aim to empower and support the entire wellbeing of seafarers around the world. Today, we are proud to announce a new chapter in that mission: Maritime Trainer is now an official member of the International Seafarers' Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN

This partnership marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to promoting mental health, emotional resilience, and overall wellbeing at sea.

Who is ISWAN?

ISWAN is a non-profit organization that works globally to enhance the welfare and mental health of seafarers. Their support services are trusted across the maritime industry, providing direct assistance to crew members in need, no matter where they are.


One of ISWAN’s most impactful initiatives is SeafarerHelp  — a free, confidential, and 24/7 helpline available to all seafarers. With support in 13+ languages, SeafarerHelp offers not only emotional guidance, but also practical advice and assistance in crisis situations.

Whether a seafarer is facing loneliness, stress, family concerns, or an urgent mental health need — SeafarerHelp ensures they are never alone.

Why This Matters to Us

At Maritime Trainer, we believe that training should not be limited to compliance and technical performance. Through our MTCare approach, we aim to support the whole person behind the role — focusing on both professional competence and mental wellbeing.


This partnership with ISWAN complements our mission by giving us the opportunity to

  • Raise awareness about available mental health support
  • Help seafarers access resources when they need it most
  • Integrate SeafarerHelp into our platforms to increase visibility and accessibility

With the help of this agreement, seafarers will have the chance to directly access to ISWAN’s SeafarerHelp helpline through Maritime Trainer's learning management portal.

In addition to that, Maritime Trainer can connect ship management companies who would like to benefit from valuable data insights with ISWAN, who operate commissioned helplines on behalf of companies to provide emoti
onal support to their crew.

This service would provide shipping companies with the opportunity to analyse top-line, anonymised helpline data shared by ISWAN alongside insights from #MTCare to identify issues, take preventative action and improve the wellbeing of their crew.
