Course Content

After completing this training, the learner will be familiar with the following topics:
• Explain dry bulk STS concepts and differentiate operational requirements for lightering, topping-off, and redistribution using barges, transloaders, or floating cranes. 
• Apply technical ship compatibility assessments, select safe transfer areas, and calculate relative freeboard and draught variations. 
• Understand the inspection and operational readiness for primary equipment, ensuring compliance with pneumatic fenders, fixed rigid structures , and bulk gear certifications (cranes, grabs, conveyor safety guards). 
• Plan and Execute safe approaches, complex dual-vessel mooring arrangements, solid-bulk cargo handling patterns, and unmooring sequences using SMCP protocols. 
• Implement rapid-response emergency protocols, including stop-work criteria, contingency alarms, emergency breakaways, and quick-release device activation. 
• Manage specific physical and structural dry bulk risks, including dust control in hazardous environments , suspended loads , vessel stability , and hull stress limitations (shear forces and bending moments)
