Creative Thinking for Seafarers is a scenario-based learning course designed to help seafarers respond to unpredictable situations in daily operations with greater flexibility, safety, and creativity. The training reframes creative thinking from an abstract concept into a practical skill by helping seafarers recognise the small but effective solutions they already use; and encouraging them to share and build on these ideas onboard.

Course Content

After completing this training, the learner will be familiar with the following topics:
 Use structured creative thinking techniques to navigate and resolve unpredictable problems during maritime operations.
 Solve complex issues while strictly adhering to Safety Management Systems (SMS) and international regulatory compliance.
 Foster effective communication and collective problem-solving within the bridge or engine room teams.
 Demonstrate an openness to new perspectives and the ability to pivot strategies when traditional methods are insufficient.
 Develop and execute innovative solutions that are realistic, measurable, and applicable to the unique constraints of a vessel.
