Course Content
After completing this training, the learner will be familiar with the following topics:
• Operate the ECDIS control units (RCU-024 and Trackball Unit) effectively, including power management, display mode selection, and using VRM/EBL controls.
• Manage and maintain electronic charts by successfully installing public keys, licenses, and charts (ENC, ARCS, C-MAP), and creating/editing Manual Update Symbols.
• Configure safety parameters by setting the Safety Contour, Shallow Contour, and Deep Contour, and utilizing the IMO Predefined Chart Display Settings (BASE, STD, ALL) .
• Execute safe navigation checks by activating the Own Ship Check (Look-ahead), setting up Anchor Watch, and defining UKC limits to monitor potential dangers.
• Plan and manage routes by creating a new route, running the mandatory Route Check against dangerous objects, and applying Route Optimisation.
• Manage alerts and logs by recognizing different alert categories (Alarm, Warning, Caution) and their icons, acknowledging/silencing alarms, and using the various log functions (Voyage, Event, Danger Target, Playback) .
• Utilize navigation and display tools such as Parallel Index (PI) Lines and Radar Overlay to enhance situational awareness during navigation.
• Perform basic maintenance on the trackball and air inlet filter, and understand the operation of the Alert Management System (AMS) and its alert categories.
